Operator: Associated Air Transport

Associated gained a CAB certificate to operate military charter flights, but MATS disqualified the carrier in November 1961 on safety reasons. A L-749A had been leased in mid 1961, and another later in the year, and 2 further L-749As were leased in the beginning of 1962. Herman “Fish” Salmon, former Lockheed Test Pilot on Constellations, took over the company as president and half owner in 1962. The Connies were a regular visitor at La Guardia on civil charter flights to Miami and even Cuba. In October 1962 the FAA suspended the operating certificate and Associated fade out of history.
